George Orwell

British novelist, poet, essayist, journalist, and critic

George Orwell, born June 25th 1903, is best known for his novella Animal Farm (1945) and his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949). He also had many non-fiction works that are just as highly respected as his fiction works.

Some of Orwell's non-fiction works include

• The Road to Wigan Pier (1937)
• Homage to Catalonia (1938)

Orwell's work is known for its lucid prose, social criticism, opposition to totalitarianism, and support of democratic socialism.

Nineteen Eighty-Four is in my opion one of the best novels ever written.

Nineteen Eighty-four (1949), a novel he wrote as a warning after years of brooding on the twin menaces of Nazism and Stalinism.
